The Internet of Things (IoT) and Digital Signage are increasingly complementary and necessary, not only because of their immediacy, but also because of their ability to generate and capture measurable, dynamic and automated interactive information in real time.
Nsign.tv is an open system, free exchange, free interoperable platform that works with multiple devices and integrates with different information sources, has an open API system and is able to communicate with different IoT hardware.
IoT technology in digital signage can be found behind various objects such as cameras, RFID systems, NFC, QR, capacitive sensors (KAS) or touchless sensors (optical, light, distance, humidity, proximity, speed, temperature, sound, etc.) and voice recognition systems such as Alexa.
All are able to identify and control data at various levels which, if well processed and analysed, can help in strategic decision making to anticipate the market, improve the user experience and reduce costs.
Simple and flexible solutions
With Nsign.tv there are infinite digital signage installations that we can combine with IoT hardware, in this article we will mention some examples that can be extrapolated to different industries such as Automotive, Corporate, Entertainment, Food & Beverage, Healthcare, Hospitality & Leisure, Catering, Retail, Warehouse & Showroom, Transport and Public Spaces to take digitalisation projects to the next level.
Proximity sensors and synchro
Let's imagine that when you move your hand along a wall without touching it, the technical or descriptive specifications of a material or a place appear on one or more screens, accompanied by a synchronised video or image to attract the attention of the audience.
Facial recognition cameras
Let's imagine a person looking at a screen connected to a facial recognition camera, which collects data such as gender and age range, and if it is confirmed who it is, according to the defined parameters, the Nsign.tv platform is able to customise the content depending on who is viewing it.
Audience management
Or, for example, something as mundane as a door that has a touchless sensor in it and when the door is opened it can count a movement such as how many people have passed through, and through Nsign.tv we can integrate a condition that allows us to manage the audience of a place.
Queuing Manager
A keypad also acts as an IoT that, when pressed and connected to the cloud, makes a call to a person through another Nsign.tv functionality, such as the queuing manager, which is reflected on a call screen at either a reception, point of sale or point of care.
Lift & Learn or Place & Learn
For example, RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology, which uses antennas, can be used to tag objects of any size, and by lifting or placing them near a reader that detects the movement signal, not only information about a product can be displayed on a screen, but also a comparison can be made with other products in terms of price, brand and/or benefits.
Projector and light sensors
In a showroom, we can also present a star product with projections that accompany its different combinations, ideal for cross-selling, accompanied by light sensors that switch the projections on and off when any interaction with the product is detected.
Voice recognition and synchros
In this case, Alexa's speech recognition system recognises a keyword from the audience and when it is mentioned, the audience sees a specific content that is triggered by the mention of the keyword. And so on and so forth, different conditions (words) can be linked to trigger different content depending on what is said in the given area.
A module that gives every place the freedom to create its own experiences.
With Nsign.tv's IoT module, brands' in physical spaces, indoor and/or outdoor, are connected to the Internet and different IoT objects can be combined with the BI (Business Intelligence) module to transform the data into dashboards, capturing more information of interest to the business, whether in a supermarket checkout area, in a shopping centre hallway, in an airport terminal, at the entrance to a building, in a clinical laboratory, in a highway service area, in the library of an educational centre or in a public car park.
And when this is possible, more data can be controlled and a better service can be provided: remotely and automatically personalising the communication of any environment through simple, integrated, flexible solutions that leave enough freedom for each establishment to build its own experience.
